Low energy lighting products are cost effective to run (will save you money on electricity bills), require less or in some cases no maintenance and contribute towards saving the environment through reduced energy consumption and subsequently decreased CO2 emissions.

VIABILITY

Is a low energy bulb really a viable option if you are getting less light and a poor colour temperature? Most low energy lighting products on the market do not give you the same light output and colour temperature (light quality) as the bulb or fitting they are replacing.  In general, they give you a reduced light output and a harsh colour temperature thus making people compromise on their overall light quality.  We aim to change this with our unique range of “Like for Like” low energy alternatives.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY AT A GLANCE

As previously mentioned, a product may be advertised as low energy but if it’s also giving you much less light, it is not energy efficient nor ideal.  A measure of energy efficiency is the amount of light the product will give per circuit watt (lumens per watt).  Energy efficient fittings must give a minimum of 40 lumens per circuit watt which is one of the criteria to gaining part L compliance.  A certain percentage of energy efficient fixtures used in new housing developments under new planning laws need to meet part L compliance of which the Green Light Store can help contribute toward.
